| TIP 1: Build
trust in your list before you begin marketing to them. If
I walked up to you in the street and said I know of a really
good deal you'd be suspicious. What could be my motive to
tell a complete stranger about a good deal, probably money.
But if I was your friend or a trusted expert you would be
a lot more open to what I have to say. Build trust by spending
the first 2-3 mailings solely
to offer valuable info with out a call to buy something.
TIP 2: You must offer your
readers value. Don't just beat them about the head with
offer after offer. Value can be good advice, tips on how
to do something, articles of interest written by experts,
the inside word on up and coming events or bargains. And
then you can include links to products or services which
are incidental to the valuable info you are revealing.
TIP 3: Treat your list like
gold. Don't send them offers for second rate rubbish.
Be sure you have either purchased and used the products
you are offering or have researched them well enough that
you are confident to endorse them. Disrespect your list
and you'll lose them forever. Its difficult enough to
get their trust but squander it and your unlikely to ever
get it back.
TIP 4: Be yourself. People
can detect a phony, even in an email. Write like you speak,
don't be afraid to let the readers learn a bit about you
and what makes you tick. After all, you are building a
relationship.
TIP 5: There is a science
to writing emails. From the subject line to the P.S.,
you can either dramatically increase or decrease the response
rate by your choice of words, sometimes by your choice
of one word. To maximize your effectiveness you are going
to have to become a student of writing ad copy. A cheap
way to learn from the more successful marketers is to
subscribe their ezines and see how they do it. In my opinion,
Nitromarketing are amongst the best at using email to
build relationships and make sales. I am on about five
of their lists. Their main ezine is called "What
Works Now".

Buy
a fresh opted-in list that has already been built
by a third party service. Be careful though because
some unscrupulous dealers may sell them to you AND
100 other people. A very reputable dealer is
CoRegistrationServices.com.
-
The
other option, which is more expensive, is to get a
third party to subscribe people directly into your
ezine or newsletter. When the subscriber opts-in it will actually be via a form that advertises
your ezine. The best for this type of opt-in is LeadFactory.
