How To Get Visitors Through Signature (Sig) Files
A signature file is usually a few lines of text that is
automatically attached to the bottom of every email you send. Virtually all
email providers will let you have a sig file and if that's the case for you
why not make use of it.
You decide what to put in your sig file so if you have
a business, online or offline, it wouldn't hurt to mention it. Just a few
lines mentioning your business name or URL, slogan if you have one, maybe a
little about the business and a link, physical address or phone number.
For example my very first web site, Home Gym Review ,
was all about home gyms and reviews of the most popular equipment. So this
is what my sig file looked like:

Another place where you should use a signature file is
online forums, chatrooms and discussion groups. Usually they allow you to
have a sig file which will be attached to the bottom of every post you
write.
Some marketers have used this method very successfully
to get highly targeted traffic. The idea is you join one or more of these
online communities and become a regular contributor. Other members will
begin to know you (since all your posts will carry your username) and if
your posts have given the impression you are an expert they will attract
visitors to your site through the link in your sig file.
So there you have it. A very simple way to attract
visitors. I've had plenty of visitors and some sales come through my sig
files. Try it for yourself.
| TIP: Be careful what
you put in your email sig file because it may get your email sent to
the junk mail folder. I wrote what I thought was a killer sig file,
listing all of the businesses I was associated with. However, for the
next couple of weeks a lot of people weren't receiving my mail. The
problem was my sig file was full of business terms which most spam
filters recognized as spam. As a result my mail was going straight to
the junk mail folder. |
